Introduction

On August 6, 1945, Hiroshima was in for a huge shock. After destroying Pearl Harbor, it was time for payback. U.S. pilot Paul Tibbets Jr. prepared to drop what was the most dangerous weapon of their time, "Little Boy". 30,000 feet up in the air, The Enola Gay took flight and headed towards Japan. Within the first two to four months of the bombings, the acute effects killed 90,000–166,000 people in Hiroshima. Three days later, Nagasaki experience the 2nd atomic bomb, "Fat Man".
